Uptime Institute가 설계인증 요건에 대해 다시 한 번 강화했습니다.

2014년 1월부터 Tier 설계인증(TCDD) 유효 기간을 2년으로 한정해 Uptime Institute 사이트에 등재하기로 하였습니다. 이는 지금도 유효합니다.

이번의 추가적인 강화는 2015년 7월부터 북미(미국, 캐나다)지역의 상업용 전산센터의 경우 설계인증은 필수적으로 진행하더라도 준공 단계에서의 Uptime Institute 엔지니어에 의한 현장 실사와 시험을 거치는 구축인증(TCCF)을 받아야만 설계인증 foil을 사이트에 등재 발급하겠다는 것입니다.

이런 정책은 기존의 전산센터 고객들이 도면 검토만으로 진행하는 설계인증을 악용해 설계인증은 Tier III, Tier IV로 받고, 구축은 그 기준에 못미치는 것으로 구축한 후에도, 전산센터 서비스를 이용하는 고객들에게 Tier III, Tier IV 인증을 받은 것으로 홍보를 하는 폐단이 있어, 구축인증까지 받은 고객들이 형평성 문제를 제기해 인증 기준을 강화한 것입니다, (이전 공지 내용 참조)

이번 Uptime Institute의 인증 기준 강화는 북미 지역(미국, 캐나다)에 한정되며, 아시아나 한국 등에는 해당되지 않습니다.

상업용 전산센터가 아닌 자기 그룹이 직접 사용하는 전산센터의 경우에도 해당되지 않습니다.

For North American Commercial Data Center Certifications as of 1 July 2015

As of 1 July 2015, Uptime Institute amends the Tier Certification award process for North American data centers for colocation, hosting, cloud, or other commercial services. This amendment is made in response to increased scrutiny from industry groups, oversight mechanisms, and legal bodies in North America into the validity of Tier Certification of Design Documents in the commercial marketplace. This 1 July amendment is also undertaken in response to the recommendation from Tier Certification awardees, and clients of commercial data centers, for enhanced accountability. Uptime Institute is addressing the concern that a Tier Certification of Design Documents could be used to substantiate a data center that is designed to one Tier level and constructed and commissioned to another Tier level. This amendment re-enforces that Tier Certification of Design Documents applies only to the design drawing package and makes no assurances as to the infrastructure installed.

Previously, a letter, foil, and website listing (https://uptimeinstitute.com/TierCertification/) is awarded for Tier Certification of Design Documents upon resolution of all outstanding Tier items evident in the design drawing package. In the amended process for commercial data centers in North America, a letter will be awarded upon resolution of all outstanding Tier items evident in the design package; the foil and website listing for Tier Certification of Design Documents will be withheld until completion of Tier Certification of Constructed Facility.  

A letter will be issued after Tier Certification of Design Documents to acknowledge that first milestone in the Tier Certification process. However, public acknowledgement of the achievement in the form of foil and website listing will occur upon completion of Tier Certification of Constructed Facility. This will ensure that Tier Certification of Design Documents does not misrepresent the functionality and capability of a built commercial data center (i.e., masking variances between the design and constructed facility).

This policy does not impact the Tier Certification process for enterprise data centers.

This policy does not impact Tier Certification of Design Documents awarded or contracted prior to 1 July 2015.
